Wear Resistance of Fe-Based Amorphous Powder Deposited Coatings in Air, Water, and SBF Solution: Effect of Layer Number

Xiulin Ji et al.

Summary: Fe-based amorphous powder was deposited on 316L stainless steel by laser cladding to improve wear resistance. The microstructure and properties of the laser clad coating were found to be influenced by the number of coating layers. The wear resistance was significantly enhanced, making it suitable for surface strengthening applications.

Surface Microstructure and Performance of Anodized TZ30 Alloy in SBF Solution

Kaiyang Liu et al.

Summary: Anodization is performed on the Ti-30Zr-5Al-3V (TZ30) alloy to improve its surface performance. The anodization film (AOF) exhibits different microstructure characteristics and increased thickness and surface microhardness with increasing applied voltage. The AOFs anodized at higher voltages have low friction coefficient and wear rate in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution. The corrosion resistance of all anodized specimens in SBF solution is greatly improved.

Enhancing the adhesion strength and wear resistance of nanostructured NiCrN coatings

Rumana Akhter et al.

Summary: The study showed that increasing nickel content in NiCrN coatings leads to grain refinement, decreased hardness and elastic modulus. Coatings with higher H/E-r, H-3/E-r(2) and W-e values can suppress cohesive and adhesive failures.

Tribological properties and microstructure of monolayer and multilayer Ta coatings prepared by magnetron sputtering

Yongyao Su et al.

Summary: Ta coatings were prepared on medical titanium alloy to improve wear resistance, and their phase structure and properties were studied under different preparation conditions. Multi-layer coatings showed a non-columnar feature, while pure phase columnar crystals were found in monolayer coatings. Among the coatings, the one prepared under direct current bias voltage exhibited the best adhesion and wear resistance.
