Physical structure, TD-DFT computations, and optical properties of hybrid nanocomposite thin film as optoelectronic devices

M. Sh. Zoromba et al.

Summary: In this study, a HCl-doped copolymer of ortho phenylene diamine and meta phenylene diamine was prepared, and microporous structure thin films of hybrid copolymer/ZrO2 nanocomposite were fabricated. The addition of zirconium oxide nanoparticles improved the crystallinity and optical properties of the copolymer. Molecular structure optimization and frequency calculations were performed using computational models, showing good agreement with experimental data. The findings suggest the potential use of hybrid nanocomposite films in polymer solar cell applications.

High-performance one and two-dimensional doped polypyrrole nanostructure for polymer solar cells applications

Eman M. F. Abd El Halium et al.

Summary: This study produced hydrochloric acid-doped polypyrrole in one and two dimensions using ferric chloride as an oxidizing agent in the presence of methyl orange dye and sodium dodecyl sulfate. The use of different dopants resulted in the formation of nanotubes and sheets of polypyrrole. The electrical conductivity of the doped polypyrrole was examined using various techniques and the results indicated that the nanotubes had higher conductivity. The heterojunction of the polypyrrole showed promising photovoltaic performance under white-light lighting.

Thermal analysis and non-isothermal crystallization kinetic of PET/UiO-66 nanocomposite

Moustafa Ahmed et al.

Summary: The thermal and crystallization properties of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in the presence of metaleorganic frameworks (MOFs) such as UiO-66(Zr) were systematically studied. UiO-66(Zr) functions as a key nucleating agent in the PET scheme, and adding UiO-66 accelerates the crystallization of PET.

Electrochemically promoted N-heterocyclic carbene polymer-catalyzed cycloaddition of aldehyde with isocyanide acetate

Chu-Hong Ou et al.

Summary: In this study, we designed and synthesized a porous organic polymer with NHC as the core structure, which exhibited higher catalytic activity and recyclability compared to homogeneous NHC. The polymer successfully catalyzed the cycloaddition reaction of aldehyde and ethyl isocyanoacetate under electro-oxidation conditions. This study provides a reference for the development of new green catalytic systems.

Mechanical Performance of glass/epoxy composites enhanced by micro- and nanosized aluminum particles

M. Megahed et al.

Summary: The effects of incorporating nanometer and micrometer-sized aluminum particles in glass fiber reinforcement epoxy composites were studied, resulting in significant improvements in mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural, hardness, wear, and impact behavior. The addition of aluminum particles showed enhancements in different properties, with a reversal of improvement trend observed at higher nanometer-sized aluminum particle loading levels. Microscopy results indicated good dispersion of aluminum particles in the epoxy matrix, with some agglomeration at higher nano-aluminum weight fractions.

Effect of through-the-thickness position of aluminum wire mesh on the mechanical properties of GFRP/Al hybrid composites

A. M. Sadoun et al.

Summary: GLARE is a hybrid composite laminate that combines extremely thin ply of aluminum wire mesh layers with epoxy strengthened fibers. The study found that replacing glass fiber layers with aluminum wire mesh affected the mechanical characteristics of the laminate, particularly enhancing toughness and ductility. Additionally, the position and orienting direction of the aluminum wire mesh significantly influenced the properties of the hybrid laminate.
