High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Creep Resistant Steels in Water Vapour Containing Environments

Maria Hagarova et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of water vapour on the oxidation resistance of 9Cr creep resistant steels. The results show that the oxidation rate increases with temperature and exhibits a significant increase after 1000 hours of exposure. This is attributed to the breakdown of the oxide scale and formation of nodules on the steel surface.

9-12% Cr Heat-Resistant Martensitic Steels with Increased Boron and Decreased Nitrogen Contents

Nadezhda Dudova

Summary: This paper provides an overview of the creep strength and microstructural features of 9% Cr and 10-12% Cr martensitic steels with high B and low N contents, achieved through modifying the chemical composition. The optimal B/N ratio in steels is discussed, and the creep properties are compared with those of traditional B and N content steels. The relationship between the stability of lath structure and precipitates and the creep strength of steels is also explored, along with future prospects of this alloying modification.

The effect of hydrogen on the breakdown of the protective oxide scale in solid oxide fuel cell interconnects

Kerem O. Gunduz et al.

Summary: The study found that hydrogen hinders the diffusion of Cr, leading to the breakdown of the protective oxide scale. This effect is most severe at 600 degrees C, while at lower or higher temperatures, the effect is attenuated.

Effect of Al content on the high-temperature oxidation behavior of 18Cr-Al-Si ferritic heat-resistant stainless steel

Yingbo Zhang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of Al content on the high-temperature oxidation behavior of 18Cr-Al-Si FHSS. Results showed that higher Al content reduced oxidation rate, improved oxidation resistance, and promoted the formation of denser and more continuous Al2O3 film in the early oxidation stages.

Effect of NbC precipitation on toughness of X12CrMoWNbVN10-1-1 martensitic heat resistant steel for steam turbine blade

Xiaogang Li et al.

Summary: In this study, microstructure, toughness, and cracking behavior of a batch of X12CrMoWNbVN10-1-1 martensitic heat resistant steels used for manufacturing steam turbine blades were investigated. Different toughness was observed in samples taken from different positions in the same ingot, with sample A showing lower impact toughness attributed to the large amount of NbC precipitation. The clustered NbC particles formed during casting process not only failed to promote precipitation-induced reinforcement, but also negatively affected toughness.

High-Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Fe-10Cr Steel under Different Atmospheres

Lei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, Fe-10Cr steel was oxidized in different atmospheres using TGA. It was found that in an atmosphere with water vapor, the iron oxide scales exhibited numerous voids and microcracks, accelerating the oxidation process of Fe-10Cr steel and causing the scales to fall off.

Effect of Flue Gases' Corrosive Components on the Degradation Process of Evaporator Tubes

Maria Hagarova et al.

Summary: Corrosion of boiler tubes in municipal waste power plants is influenced by the chloride content in the fuel, and the study shows the effects of flue gases and saturated steam on the inner and outer surfaces of the evaporator tube. Ash deposits decrease the thermal efficiency of the boiler.

High temperature oxidation of corrosion resistant alloys from machine learning

Christopher D. Taylor et al.

Summary: The study investigated the relationships between oxidation kinetics and composition by collecting and calculating parabolic rate constants for 75 alloys exposed to high temperatures. Various analytical methods were used, with supervised machine learning techniques showing the lowest standard errors. Nickel, chromium, aluminum, and iron were identified as the most significant elements controlling oxidation kinetics in the study.
