Zhichao Yu et al.

Summary: Functional photothermal nanomaterials have been widely studied for their unique photothermal conversion properties in precise cancer therapy and early disease diagnosis. In this study, the researchers designed a liposome-embedded Cu2-xAgxS photothermal sensor for accurate determination of cardiac troponin I levels. The sensor was combined with a 3D-printing detecting device and smartphone monitoring, providing a potential solution for point-of-care testing. Theoretical calculations and experimental results verified the efficiency of the sensor, contributing to the development of sensitive portable photothermal biosensors.

Preparation of biopolymer pectin fascinate hydroxyapatite nanocomposite for biomedical applications

Muthulakshmi Vaikundam et al.

Summary: The synthesis of pectin-mediated HAP nanoparticles and HAP/pectin nanocomposites using carrot pomace pectin as a template was the focus of this study. The results showed that the nanoparticles produced at the optimal pectin concentration were pure, spherical, low crystalline, and discrete particles with reduced size, and had antimicrobial properties. In comparison to pectin-mediated hydroxyapatite, the HAP/pectin nanocomposites exhibited higher cell survival and bone mineralization, indicating their potential for biomedical applications.

Synthesis and characterization of graphene quantum dot/SiNP/carbon nanomaterial composites

Sera Kwon et al.

Summary: In this study, graphene quantum dots (GQDs), silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs), and carbon nanomaterials were used to synthesize composites that can improve the low charging capacity of carbon materials. The composites were fabricated by positively charging SiNPs and combining them with hydroxyl-attached GQDs, followed by mixing with carbon nanofibers (CNFs) or carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and reducing through annealing. The physical properties of the manufactured materials were investigated, and the composites were expected to be applied in various devices.

Liquid crystal behavior of cellulose nanoparticles-ethyl cellulose composites: Preparation, characterization, and rheology

Altaf H. Basta et al.

Summary: This work focuses on evaluating the role of cellulose nanoparticles in ethyl cellulose composite for liquid crystal applications. Results showed that CNPs prepared with ammonium persulfate exhibited higher crystallinity compared to those prepared with sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Incorporating CNPs into EC led to a decrease in the critical concentration of EC, improving the performance of the composites.

A comparative study of the crystallinity of polyetheretherketone by using density, DSC, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy techniques

M. Doumeng et al.

Summary: A study on the crystallinity of Polyetheretherketone was conducted using different techniques including density measurement, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, X-ray Diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. The density measurement gave the most accurate result for the degree of crystallinity, while DSC tended to overestimate and XRD tended to underestimate the crystallinity. Raman spectroscopy was found to be suitable for determining local crystallinity on the surface of the sample.
