Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder among Clients Diagnosed with a Substance Use Disorder in the Therapeutic Communities: Prevalence and Psychiatric Comorbidity

Michal Miovsky et al.

Summary: The study revealed a high prevalence of ADHD among clients in residential rehab, with 51% of them diagnosed with ADHD showing higher scores in psychiatric status, positive psychiatric symptoms, and global severity index. Even after controlling for substance use severity, ADHD remained a significant predictor of psychiatric status and partially affected positive psychiatric symptoms. The findings suggest the importance of integrating ADHD diagnosis and interventions into standard diagnostic and treatment processes.
