Overexpression of C-Repeat Binding Factor1 (CBF1) Gene Enhances Heat Stress Tolerance in Arabidopsis

Sang Dae Yun et al.

Summary: High temperature affects plant growth and seed production. Overexpressing CBF1 gene in Arabidopsis improves heat stress tolerance by upregulating heat shock inducible genes and reactive oxygen species responsive genes.

Molecular Tools for Adapting Viticulture to Climate Change

Eric Gomes et al.

Summary: Adaptation of viticulture to climate change involves exploring new areas, training systems, management practices, and varieties. Molecular tools, such as DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, are crucial for understanding grapevine response to environmental stresses, genetics, and genomics of stress tolerance, as well as controlling the genome for breeding better-adapted genotypes. High throughput DNA sequencing and genomic selection are powerful methods for genetic improvement in grapevine adaptation to climate change.

LlWRKY39 is involved in thermotolerance by activating LlMBF1c and interacting with LlCaM3 in lily (Lilium longiflorum)

Liping Ding et al.

Summary: The study showed that LlWRKY39 plays a crucial role in heat stress response regulation through Ca2+-CaM and multiprotein bridging factor pathways. By binding to the promoter of LlMBF1c, LlWRKY39 activates its activity to enhance thermotolerance in lily and Arabidopsis. Additionally, feedback regulation via protein interaction between LlCaM3 and LlWRKY39 might help balance the heat stress response mediated by LlWRKY39.

Heteromeric HSFA2/HSFA3 complexes drive transcriptional memory after heat stress in Arabidopsis

Thomas Friedrich et al.

Summary: Moderate heat stress primes plants to acquire tolerance to subsequent, more severe heat stress. Here the authors show that the HSFA3 transcription factor forms a heteromeric complex with HSFA2 to sustain activated transcription of genes required for acquired thermotolerance by promoting H3K4 hyper-methylation.

GRAS-domain transcription factor PAT1 regulates jasmonic acid biosynthesis in grape cold stress response

Zemin Wang et al.

Summary: The study confirmed that overexpression of VaPAT1 in transformed grape calli enhances cold tolerance, and revealed an interaction between VaPAT1 and VaIDD3, which coordinately modulate the expression of stress-related genes, including the key jasmonate biosynthesis enzyme gene LOX3.
