Evaluation of bone mineral density in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus by ultrasonic bone mineral density measurement combined with Vitamin-D deficiency and analysis of influencing factors

Lulu Han et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have lower bone mineral density (BMD) and 25-hydroxyVitamin-D3 levels. Furthermore, there is a close relationship between BMD and Vitamin-D deficiency in patients with GDM.

Association of maternal vitamin B12 and folate levels in early pregnancy with gestational diabetes: a prospective UK cohort study (PRiDE study)

Ponnusamy Saravanan et al.

Summary: The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is increasing worldwide. Low B-12 and high folate levels in early pregnancy are associated with small but statistically significant changes in maternal blood glucose level and higher risk of GDM. Additional studies are needed to further explore the role of unmetabolised folic acid in glucose metabolism and the impact of optimizing B-12 and folate levels in early pregnancy or pre-conception on hyperglycemia.

Association of maternal lipid profile and gestational diabetes mellitus: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 292 studies and 97,880 women

Jiamiao Hu et al.

Summary: The study found that women with GDM have significantly higher levels of TG during pregnancy, with the elevation mainly occurring in the first trimester and persisting afterwards. Meta-regression analyses showed that differences in TG levels were significantly associated with age, BMI, study continent, OGTT procedure, and GDM diagnosis criteria.
