Conformal quantum dot-SnO2 layers as electron transporters for efficient perovskite solar cells

Minjin Kim et al.

Summary: The study replaced the commonly used mesoporous titanium dioxide electron transport layer with a thin layer of polyacrylic acid-stabilized tin(IV) oxide quantum dots, which improved the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells and enabled successful scaling up of PSCs production.

Stability-limiting heterointerfaces of perovskite photovoltaics

Shaun Tan et al.

Summary: Optoelectronic devices rely on heterointerfaces between different semiconducting materials, and the energy-level alignment between them plays a crucial role in device performance. Surface treatments for perovskite solar cells can impact the energetics of the heterointerface, potentially affecting device stability. Balancing the pros and cons of surface treatments is essential for improving PSC stability.

Damp heat-stable perovskite solar cells with tailored-dimensionality 2D/3D heterojunctions

Randi Azmi et al.

Summary: By tailoring the dimensional fragments of two-dimensional perovskite layers, damp-heat stable perovskite solar cells with high power conversion efficiencies were successfully fabricated. These cells retain over 95% of their initial value after more than 1000 hours under damp-heat test conditions, meeting one of the critical industrial stability standards for photovoltaic modules.

Crosslinkable and Chelatable Organic Ligand Enables Interfaces and Grains Collaborative Passivation for Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells

Zongwen Ma et al.

Summary: This study introduces a dual-functional organic ligand, C1, for collaborative engineering of the electrode interface and perovskite grain boundaries in organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells. The C1 ligand suppresses nonradiative recombination and enhances stability through chemical chelation and in situ crosslinking. The resulting solar cells demonstrate high conversion efficiency and excellent water/moisture and thermal stability.

Intact 2D/3D halide junction perovskite solar cells via solid-phase in-plane growth

Yeoun-Woo Jang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a solid-phase method to grow phase-pure two-dimensional perovskites in perovskite solar cells, enhancing device efficiency and stability. By growing a stable two-dimensional film on top of a three-dimensional film using a solvent-free method, an intact 2D/3D heterojunction is formed, resulting in high photovoltage in the device.

Perovskite Passivation Strategies for Efficient and Stable Solar Cells

Cong Li et al.

Summary: This review summarizes recent progress in passivation strategies for perovskite films, including nonstoichiometric passivation, iodide vacancies filling, dimensional engineering, passivation with crosslink, physical passivation, and other methods. These strategies play a crucial role in improving the quality of perovskite films, adjusting energy band structure, reducing defect state density, and suppressing nonradiative carrier recombination. The review also proposes future development directions for passivation strategies to further enhance the performance of PSCs.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Efficient perovskite solar cells via improved carrier management

Jason J. Yoo et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite solar cells have shown great potential to disrupt the silicon solar cell market with their improved performance, yet still face limitations in light-harvesting due to charge carrier recombination. Efforts to enhance charge carrier management offer a path to increase device performance and approach the theoretical efficiency limit of PSCs.
