Summary: This study investigated the metabolism of water-soluble inositol phosphates (InsPs) in human cells using metabolic labeling with stable isotopomers in combination with NMR spectroscopy and CE-MS. The researchers uncovered a novel branch of InsP dephosphorylation in human cells which is dependent on the enzyme MINPP1. The results demonstrate the power of this approach in annotating InsP networks in various biological contexts.
