Mechanism of Graft Damage Caused by NTPDase1-activated Macrophages in Acute Antibody-Mediated Rejection

Xue Peng et al.

Summary: The study found that in acute antibody-mediated rejection, higher levels of NTPDase1 expression led to more significant proliferation of macrophages, while also correlating with lower expression of MHC class II antigens on the surface of macrophages, lower levels of BAFF in the peripheral blood serum, lower total numbers of SmIg-positive B cells, and reduced pathological damage to skin grafts.

Restraint of Human Skin Fibroblast Motility, Migration, and Cell Surface Actin Dynamics, by Pannexin 1 and P2X7 Receptor Signaling

Carolina Flores-Munoz et al.

Summary: The study revealed that Panx1 channels play a crucial role in human dermal fibroblast migration during wound healing, with their absence or inhibition accelerating cell migration and promoting actin redistribution. This occurs through the release of ATP to the extracellular space and activation of the purinergic receptor P2X7.

Ectonucleotidases in Acute and Chronic Inflammation

Anna Lisa Giuliani et al.

Summary: Ectonucleotidases are extracellular enzymes that play a crucial role in inflammation by hydrolyzing extracellular purine and pyrimidine nucleotides to generate adenosine, which can regulate inflammation and impact immune cell activation, pathogen clearance, tissue repair, and regeneration. Understanding these enzymes is important for a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases.

From purines to purinergic signalling: molecular functions and human diseases

Zhao Huang et al.

Summary: Purines, such as adenosine and ATP, play crucial roles in controlling intracellular energy homeostasis and nucleotide synthesis, as well as regulating cell behavior through purinergic signaling. Pathological deregulation of purinergic signaling is associated with various diseases, making purinoceptors potential therapeutic targets.
