Enhanced ant colony algorithm with communication mechanism for mobile robot path planning

Summary: An enhanced ant colony algorithm is proposed in this paper to address the issue of underutilization of historical paths in mobile robot path planning. A communication mechanism inspired by ant tentacle contact is introduced to integrate historical paths for better composite paths. In addition, an enlarged roulette method is presented for faster convergence, and an adaptive sigmoid attenuation function is designed to optimize heuristic information at different stages. The paper also analyzes deadlock problems and formulates specific strategies. Experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and advantages of the proposed method in enhancing the performance of the ant colony algorithm.
