Enzymatic characteristics and preventive effect of leucine aminopeptidase against Echinococcus multilocularis

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the bioinformatic and enzymatic characteristics of recombinant Echinococcus multilocularis LAP protein, demonstrating its immunogenicity and preventive efficacy in a mouse model. The successfully expressed rEm-LAP protein in Escherichia coli induced a mixed-type immune response and significantly reduced cysts in the infected mice.

A Modified MTS Proliferation Assay for Suspended Cells to Avoid the Interference by Hydralazine and β-Mercaptoethanol

Yutang Wang et al.

Summary: Hydralazine was found to interfere with the MTS assay on adherent cells but not on suspended cells. The modified MTS assay provided reliable results when assessing suspended cells such as THP-1, K562, and Jurkat cells incubated with hydralazine.

Dual Role of Hepatic Macrophages in the Establishment of the Echinococcus multilocularis Metacestode in Mice

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that M2 macrophages dominate in hepatic macrophages associated with E. multilocularis infection. Macrophages in the liver tend to polarize towards the M1 phenotype at the early stage of infection, then shift to the M2 phenotype.

Bioinformatic prediction and identification of immunogenic epitopes of the antigenic 14-3-3 protein of Echinococcus multilocularis

Wei Wei et al.

Summary: This study aimed to predict and identify the dominant Th1/Th2 and B cell epitopes of the antigen protein 14-3-3 beta:alpha from Echinococcus multilocularis through various methods, resulting in the validation of eight potential epitopes. The research provides a foundation for the development of efficient and safe vaccines targeting epitopes of Echinococcus multilocularis.

In vivo and in vitro efficacy of crocin against Echinococcus multilocularis

Chuanchuan Liu et al.

Summary: Crocin demonstrated parasiticidal activity against E. multilocularis both in vitro and in vivo. It showed lower toxicity to mammalian cells compared to metacestodes. Administration of crocin significantly reduced metacestode weight and caused structural disruption in the parasite.

Hepatic Alveolar Echinococcosis

Solange Bresson-Hadni et al.

Summary: Hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE) is a rare zoonotic disease caused by the larval stage of the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis. It is predominantly found in China but has seen a significant resurgence in historically endemic areas and emergence in other countries. Diagnosis is typically made through ultrasonography and specific serology, with surgical resection as the main treatment option, though prognosis remains poor in areas with limited access to care.

Design of a multi-epitope vaccine against cervical cancer using immunoinformatics approaches

Samira Sanami et al.

Summary: This study aimed to design a therapeutic vaccine against cervical cancer using reverse vaccinology, selecting E6 and E7 oncoproteins from HPV16 as target antigens for epitope prediction and constructing a multi-epitope vaccine with appropriate adjuvants. The physicochemical properties, antigenicity, and allergenicity of the vaccine construct were evaluated, and further analyses including molecular docking, MD simulation, and in silico cloning were performed. Results suggested the proposed vaccine could be effective, but further in vitro and in vivo experiments are needed for validation.

Jing Sun et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of Kyn as a novel suppressive adjuvant, showing in experiments on NOD mouse model that co-immunization of Kyn with GAD65 phage vaccine can prevent the occurrence of T1D by modulating immune responses and cytokine secretion.
