The Role of REC8 in the Innate Immune Response to Viral Infection

Shengwen Chen et al.

Summary: The innate immune response is crucial for host defense against viruses and pathogens. This study shows that REC8 interacts with MAVS and STING, stabilizing their proteins and promoting innate antiviral signaling. REC8 inhibits the ubiquitination of MAVS and STING triggered by RNF5, thereby enhancing their activity in innate immunity and inhibiting viral infection. This work highlights the previously undocumented role of REC8 in regulating innate immunity.

Xiangle Zhang et al.

Summary: By comparing the expression features of IBRS-2 and PK-15 cells in response to SVV infection, differences in innate immune response were identified, with aberrant signal transduction found to be the underlying cause of distinct immune response and viral replication rates between the two cell lines.
