Blockchain adoption and gray markets in a global supply chain ?

Qing Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the impacts of gray markets and blockchain adoption in a global supply chain. It finds that the gray market can affect the manufacturer's pricing decisions regardless of whether blockchain is adopted. The manufacturer's blockchain adoption can either promote or prevent the gray marketer's entry, and the authorized channel can benefit from blockchain adoption. The manufacturer's role as the first-mover and the real product quality also influence the decision to adopt blockchain. The entry of the gray marketer may promote consumer surplus in the foreign market.
