Development of Predictive Models for Determination of the Extent of Damage in Granite Caused by Thermal Treatment and Cooling Conditions Using Artificial Intelligence

Naseer Muhammad Khan et al.

Summary: Thermal treatment and cooling conditions can induce damage to rocks. The damage can be quantified through laboratory evaluation or computer simulations. An artificial neural network (ANN) based on porosity was found to be the most efficient model for quantifying rock damage.

Experimental and Theoretical Study on Frost Deformation and Damage of Red Sandstones with Different Water Contents

Shibing Huang et al.

Summary: The study reveals the significant influence of water saturation on frost deformation characteristics of red sandstone, with frost heaving strains greatly increasing beyond 85% water saturation. No significant frost heaving strain occurs in red sandstone with water saturation below 85%.
