Smart Greenhouse Monitoring System Using Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence

Sultana Jahan Soheli et al.

Summary: Climate change has had a devastating impact on agriculture, prompting the need for innovative solutions. An automated smart greenhouse, utilizing an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and Internet of Things (IoT), shows promise in boosting crop production by collecting real-time weather data and making predictions for optimum growing conditions. Through sensors, data on temperature, humidity, sunlight, and soil moisture is collected and fed into the fuzzy control system. This data is then used to determine the best values for temperature and humidity, which can be monitored and adjusted by farmers through a mobile app. Utilizing GSM or TCP/IP for data transfer, the system also addresses security concerns by considering potential IoT attacks and taking necessary steps to prevent them. In simulation, the system successfully detects attacks or security breaches at a precision value of 0.83, recall of 0.78, and FI score of 0.81. This innovative approach not only improves learning efficiency and prediction accuracy but also provides a secure and user-friendly solution for greenhouse maintenance. The system's ability to store and convert data in cloud storage ensures traceability and durability for customized indoor agriculture. Overall, this modern greenhouse maintenance system is efficient, cost-effective, secure, and easy to use.
