Tunicamycin as a Novel Redifferentiation Agent in Radioiodine Therapy for Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

Yoon Ju Choi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Tunicamycin can restore the sensitivity of radioiodine refractory anaplastic thyroid cancer cells to radioiodine therapy by upregulating iodide-handling gene expression and NIS protein expression. Furthermore, TM also promotes redifferentiation of ATC cells by blocking multiple signaling pathways.

Whole-genome sequencing of two Streptomyces strains isolated from the sand dunes of Sahara

Chahira Zerouki et al.

Summary: The Saharan Streptomyces strains from El Oued Souf and Beni Abbes in Algeria were selected based on antibacterial, antifungal, and enzymatic activities. Genome sequencing showed high DNA similarity between the strains despite differences in phenotype and geographic origin. The identification of factors related to adaptation to extreme environments and stress conditions provides insight into ecological adaptation and bioactive compounds in desert microorganisms.

Antarctic desert soil bacteria exhibit high novel natural product potential, evaluated through long-read genome sequencing and comparative genomics

Nicole Benaud et al.

Summary: Actinobacteria and Proteobacteria in Antarctic soils are important producers of bioactive natural products, with biosynthetic gene clusters showing low similarity to known compounds and encoding a variety of compound types. Comparative genome analysis reveals BGC variations between closely related strains from different geographical environments, with some strains predicted to encode compounds with antitumour, antifungal, antibacterial, and biosurfactant properties.
