Hydrological impacts of climate and land-use change on flow regime variations in upper Indus basin

Kashif Haleem et al.

Summary: Investigating the impacts of climate and land-use changes on surface runoff is essential for water resources management. This study focused on the Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan, using the SWAT model to distinguish between the effects of projected climate and land-use changes on surface runoff. The results showed that climate change has a greater influence on river runoff than land-use change, with both factors predicted to increase future runoff depth in the basin.

Evaluation and selection of CORDEX-SA datasets and bias correction methods for a hydrological impact study in a humid tropical river basin, Kerala

M. S. Saranya et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of five GCM-RCM combinations over a humid tropical river basin in Kerala, India, ranking the climate models based on an EDAS method and selecting appropriate bias correction methods. The findings showed that using the average of all GCM-RCM pairs provided the best model output for simulating streamflow.

Combined Impacts of Climate and Land Use Changes on Long-Term Streamflow in the Upper Halda Basin, Bangladesh

Farzana Raihan et al.

Summary: In Bangladesh, rapid population growth and associated land-use changes are escalating water scarcity issues, which will be further exacerbated under ongoing climate change. Predicting the consequences of climate and land-use change on freshwater supplies is critical for the sustainable management of water resources. By simulating long-term stream flows in the Halda Basin under various scenarios, it was found that future climate change is likely to have a greater impact on altering streamflow compared to land-use changes. Our results should guide environmental management authorities in more sustainable water resource planning under global climate change.

Assessing Future Impacts of Climate Change on Streamflow within the Alabama River Basin

Joseph E. Quansah et al.

Summary: This study assessed the potential hydrologic responses and changes in streamflow in the Alabama River Basin due to future climate change. The results indicate possible increases and decreases in mean monthly streamflow discharge, as well as increased frequency and variability in peak flows during the mid to end of the 21st century.
