Phylogenomics of Gesneriaceae using targeted capture of nuclear genes

Ezgi Ogutcen et al.

Summary: Gesneriaceae, a pantropical plant family with diverse growth forms and floral morphology, has had its systematics improved with the development of a specific gene capture kit targeting 830 single-copy loci. This allowed for the resolution of phylogenetic relationships within the family, providing high support for major lineages and high resolution within recent radiations. This molecular resource opens new perspectives for studying Gesneriaceae phylogeny at different taxonomical levels and understanding the factors underlying the diversification of this plant group.

Spatial variability of diurnal to seasonal cycles of precipitation from a high-altitude equatorial Andean valley to the Amazon Basin

Jean-Carlos Ruiz-Hernandez et al.

Summary: This study focused on analyzing the diurnal cycle of precipitation in the upper part of the Guayllabamba and Napo basins in the equatorial Andes, and identified spatial variations in both diurnal and seasonal cycles across different groups of stations. The distinct seasonal precipitation patterns observed in different areas provide insights into the atmospheric dynamics affecting precipitation in the region, which may help in optimizing the water supply system.
