Genome-wide Identification and Expression Analysis of CaM/CML Gene Family in Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera)

Li Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, 34 CaM/CML genes were identified in Nelumbo nucifera, and their phylogenetic analysis, gene structure, conserved motif, and cis-acting elements were analyzed. Expression analysis showed differential expression patterns of NNU-CaMs/CMLs in different tissues and their response to calcium treatments. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis revealed the expression connectivity of NNU-CaMs/CMLs and their potential involvement in various biological processes. These results will contribute to further understanding the functions of NNU-CaMs/CMLs.

A Comprehensive Analysis of Calmodulin-Like Proteins of Glycine max Indicates Their Role in Calcium Signaling and Plant Defense Against Insect Attack

Manisha Yadav et al.

Summary: Calcium (Ca2+) signaling plays a crucial role in plant-herbivore interaction. The calmodulin-like proteins (CMLs) of soybean are involved in calcium signaling and plant defense. Analysis of soybean CMLs identified 41 true CMLs that are evolutionarily related to Arabidopsis CMLs. These CMLs are proposed as calcium sensors and play a role in stress responses.

Characterization of the Calmodulin/Calmodulin-like Protein (CAM/CML) Family in Ginkgo biloba, and the Influence of an Ectopically Expressed GbCML Gene (Gb_30819) on Seedling and Fruit Development of Transgenic Arabidopsis

Xinxin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study revealed the characteristics of the CAM/CML family in Ginkgo biloba, including their distribution in the genome, sequence diversity, and expression patterns. The results showed that Ginkgo CAMs/CMLs may have certain conservation and diversity in evolution and expression. Transgenic experiments and electrophoresis mobility shift assays demonstrated the role of the Gb_30819 gene in Ca2+ binding activity.

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of calmodulin and calmodulin-like genes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Yongwei Liu et al.

Summary: Calmodulin (CaM) and calmodulin-like (CML) genes play important roles in plant growth and stress response. In wheat, 18 TaCaM and 230 TaCML genes were identified, classified into 7 subfamilies. These genes are located on all 21 chromosomes, with most gene clusters containing 3 homoeologous genes. TaCaM/TaCML genes show tissue-specific expression patterns, with some genes being up-regulated by abiotic stresses in roots or shoots.

The effect of stress hormones, UV-C, and stilbene precursors on calmodulin (CaM) and calmodulin-like gene (CML) expression in Vitis amurensis Rupr

Konstantin V. Kiselev et al.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the expression of CaM and CML genes in highly resistant grapevine Vitis amurensis in response to stress hormones, phenolic precursors, and ultraviolet irradiation. The results showed that MeJA and SA significantly regulated the expression of VaCML genes, while UV-C irradiation had a notable impact on VaCML gene expression.
