From Low to High Saturation Magnetization in Magnetite Nanoparticles: The Crucial Role of the Molar Ratios Between the Chemicals

Yaser Hadadian et al.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive characterization of iron oxide nanoparticles synthesized using a thermal decomposition method. It found that varying the molar ratios of the starting materials can result in monodisperse nanoparticles with high saturation magnetization. The reduced magnetization in some samples was attributed to distortion and microstrain in the particles. Additionally, particles with lower surface coating and higher polydispersity exhibited lower saturation magnetization. The study concludes that the choice of molar ratios and heating profile is crucial for obtaining high-quality iron oxide nanoparticles.

Heat Generation in Magnetic Hyperthermia by Manganese Ferrite-Based Nanoparticles Arises from Neel Collective Magnetic Relaxation

Nicholas Zufelato et al.

Summary: This study investigates the collective magnetic relaxation of coupled nanoparticle's magnetic moments and its influence in magnetic nanoparticle hyperthermia therapy. The study combines experimental data, numerical simulations, and theoretical approaches to analyze the hyperthermia efficiency of Mn-ferrite nanoparticles with different particle sizes and arrangements. The results demonstrate that the hyperthermia efficiency can increase or decrease depending on the organization of the nanoparticles within the aggregate. The study also proposes a theoretical approach for building magnetic regime diagrams to understand the conditions for single-particle relaxation and collective magnetic relaxation.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized bare magnetite NPs and PEG-MNPs with high stability and optimized physicochemical properties through an optimized synthesis method. In vitro biological assays on Escherichia coli strains demonstrated low cytotoxicity of these nanoparticles at high concentrations. Furthermore, the MNPs showed potential as theranostic agents in magnetomotive ultrasound imaging and magnetic hyperthermia.

Magnetic Characterization by Scanning Microscopy of Functionalized Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

Frederico V. Gutierrez et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the magnetic properties of magnetite nanoparticles functionalized with different Pluronic F-127 surfactant concentrations through an improved magnetic characterization method. The nanoparticles showed superparamagnetic behavior and remained stable in terms of magnetization even after months of storage. The magnetic technique used in this study also demonstrated potential for detailed magnetic characterization of nanoparticles, with results confirmed by comparison with other techniques such as transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.
