Elimination of rhodamine B from textile wastewater using nanoparticle photocatalysts: A review for sustainable approaches

Abdullah Khaled Al-Buriahi et al.

Summary: This review examined the efficiency and mechanism of RhB degradation using different photocatalysts, finding that zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized from plant extracts were the most effective in achieving 100% efficiency. The photocatalysis process was influenced by pH levels, impacting the formation of hydroxyl radicals and catalyst surface load. Analysis using Jupyter Notebook revealed a strong correlation between ZnO NPs concentration and photocatalysis efficiency.

Construction of a Switchable g-C3N4/BiVO4 Heterojunction from the Z-Scheme to the Type II by Incorporation of Pyromellitic Diimide

Ya-yun Li et al.

Summary: The g-C3N4/PI/BiVO4 (CPB) photocatalyst, constructed by tailoring the g-C3N4 structure and hybridizing with BiVO4, exhibits significantly improved photocatalytic activity with higher light absorption capacity, lower electron-hole transfer resistance, and stronger photooxidation power. The addition of PI to g-C3N4 eliminates the built-in electric field in the composite material without compromising its photocatalytic performance.

Exfoliation method matters: The microstructure-dependent photoactivity of g-C3N4 nanosheets for water purification

Menglu Zhang et al.

Summary: The exfoliation of carbon nitride into ultrathin nanosheets greatly enhances its photoactivity. Different exfoliation methods, including thermal, chemical, ultrasonic, and one-step exfoliation, were studied for their effects on the microstructure and photocatalytic performance of the nanosheets. Among these methods, one-step exfoliation showed superior photocatalytic efficiency under visible light and could potentially be a cost-effective strategy for producing high-performance carbon nitride nanosheets for water purification applications.

CuOx clusters decorated TiO2 for photocatalytic oxidation of nitrogen in air into nitric oxide under ambient conditions

Chaoxin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study develops CuOx clusters decorated TiO2 nanoflowers as a photocatalyst for the oxidation of nitrogen gas in air to nitric oxide (NO) under sunlight. The sample with 1 wt% copper content exhibits the best performance, achieving high yield rate and apparent quantum efficiency. In situ and ex situ characterizations reveal the formation of Cu2O species and TiO2 support, forming a direct Z-scheme heterojunction that enhances the adsorption and activation of nitrogen and oxygen reactants, improving the photosynthesis of NO from air.
