The formation mechanism of micro-nano secondary phase in solid-liquid doped TZM alloy

Kuai-She Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a TZM alloy with uniform distribution and an average secondary phase particle size of 940 nm was prepared through a solid-liquid doping preparation process. The formation mechanism of the micro-nano-level secondary phase in the alloy was revealed by thermodynamic calculation and confirmed by experimental analysis. The observations of micronano-scale and even nano-scale secondary phase particles provide important information for understanding the secondary phase precipitation mechanism in the manufacturing process of high-performance molybdenum alloys.

Influence of Carbon and Oxygen on the Core Structure and Peierls Stress of Screw Dislocation in Molybdenum

Zi-Qi Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between interstitial solute carbon and oxygen and screw dislocation in bcc molybdenum. First-principles calculations and thermodynamic models are used to determine the influence of these solutes on the dislocation motion. It is found that carbon and oxygen segregate to the dislocation region and induce reconstruction of the dislocation core structure. Addition of carbon and oxygen increases the Peierls stresses and double-kink formation enthalpies, leading to a pinning effect on the dislocation motion.

Suppressing effect of carbon on oxygen-induced embrittlement in molybdenum grain boundary

Zi-Qi Wang et al.

Summary: The addition of carbon can effectively reduce the oxygen concentration in Mo grain boundaries and alleviate the oxygen-induced embrittlement. Carbon inhibits the segregation of oxygen in Mo grain boundaries more significantly compared to its direct strengthening effect.

Preferred growth of molybdenum thin films during magnetron sputtering

A. M. Minkin et al.

Summary: Molybdenum films deposited on a fused silica substrate exhibit nucleation textures with the <110> axis, which can later transform into growth textures with the (211) orientation during film growth. Increasing working gas pressure can decrease the film thickness and facilitate the texture transformation process.

Summary: This study demonstrates how plastic bending can increase the high-temperature strength of products for pipelines and tube shells by altering the dislocation structure and mechanism during creep. Through experiments on pre-bent molybdenum single crystals, it was found that the creep rate significantly decreases and dislocation creep transitions into diffusion creep under high temperature and stress conditions.

A First-Principles Study on Na and O Adsorption Behaviors on Mo (110) Surface

Qingqing Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption and diffusion behaviors of sodium atoms on the molybdenum surface were theoretically investigated using first-principles approach. Results showed that the presence of alloy rhenium atoms enhanced attractive interactions between sodium/oxygen and the molybdenum substrate, while sodium or oxygen atoms on the surface slowed down sodium diffusion by increasing the diffusion barrier.Additionally, the formation energy of surface vacancies was calculated, with sodium/oxygen co-adsorption leading to a low vacancy formation energy, indicating the potential corrosion mechanism in a liquid sodium environment with oxygen impurities. It was found that rhenium substitution atoms could protect the molybdenum surface by increasing the vacancy formation energy.
