Engineering the Hole Extraction Interface Enables Single-Crystal MAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells with Efficiency Exceeding 22% and Superior Indoor Response

Ning Li et al.

Summary: In this study, hydrophobic P3HT molecules were successfully incorporated into the hole transport layer of perovskite single crystals, resulting in reduced interface and bulk defect density, suppressed nonradiative recombination, accelerated charge transport, and extraction. This led to a significantly enhanced open-circuit voltage and efficiency, making it the highest values achieved for MAPbI(3) single-crystal solar cells. Additionally, the incorporation of P3HT resulted in superior weak light response and an indoor photovoltaic efficiency of 39.2% at 1000 lux irradiation.

Direct Detection of Near-Infrared Circularly Polarized Light via Precisely Designed Chiral Perovskite Heterostructures

Xinyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel chiral metal halide perovskite (CMHP) heterostructure was designed, which achieved self-powered direct near-infrared circularly polarized light detection by synthesizing crystalline 3D MAPbI(3) on a 2D chiral (R-BPEA)(2)PbI4 crystal. Compared with individual chiral (R-BPEA)2PbI4, the heterostructure not only retained spin selectivity but also had a broader absorbance range. By utilizing the built-in electric potential in the heterojunction, devices operating without external energy supply were realized.

Bulk Defect Suppression of Micrometer-Thick Perovskite Single Crystals Enables Stable Photovoltaics

Shengdan Xie et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite single crystals have better optoelectronic properties and higher stability than their polycrystalline thin-film counterparts. However, the operational stability of single-crystal perovskite solar cells (PSCs) still needs improvement. By optimizing the ion diffusion velocity, the crystal quality of thin single crystals can be improved, reducing the light-induced degradation of material properties. The experiment shows that the optimized single-crystal PSCs maintain high efficiency after continuous operation for 330 hours.

Heterogeneous Integration of Chiral Lead-Chloride Perovskite Crystals with Si Wafer for Boosted Circularly Polarized Light Detection in Solar-Blind Ultraviolet Region

Xinyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: By growing chiral HOIP single crystals onto silicon wafers, a strong built-in electric field at the heterojunction is generated, providing a driving force for separating/transporting carriers under CPL excitation. The transfer of chirality and significant amplification of circular polarization sensitivity in the transport process lead to an anisotropy factor of up to 0.4 at zero bias, making it the highest among reported CPL-UV photodetectors. This integration of chiral HOIP crystals with silicon technology opens up possibilities for high-performance CPL detectors in the solar-blind UV region and other advanced optoelectronic devices.
