Mediterranean Diet Combined With a Low-Carbohydrate Dietary Pattern in the Treatment of Overweight Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Patients

Shanshan Mei et al.

Summary: The results of this study suggest that the MED/LC diet model is an effective treatment for overweight PCOS patients. It significantly restores their menstrual cycle, improves their anthropometric parameters, corrects their disturbed endocrine levels, and has better overall effectiveness compared to the LF diet model. Therefore, the MED/LC diet model is recommended for clinical treatment of overweight PCOS patients.

Update on PCOS: Consequences, Challenges, and Guiding Treatment

Kathleen M. Hoeger et al.

Summary: PCOS, a common reproductive endocrine disorder in women, presents challenges in diagnosis and treatment. The International PCOS network, jointly sponsored by ESHRE and ASRM, developed evidence-based guidelines over several years, but satisfaction with diagnosis and treatment options is low among both clinicians and patients. Recent research has highlighted important findings in diagnosis and treatment, as well as ongoing challenges in understanding and managing PCOS.

Summary: The study found that PhA values and CRP levels were significantly lower in females than males, while adherence to the Mediterranean diet was lower in males compared to females. After adjusting for age, physical activity, BMI, waist circumference, and adherence to the MD, PhA remained negatively associated with CRP levels in both genders (p < 0.001).
