Agronomic Practices to Increase the Yield and Quality of Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.): A Systematic Review

Ioannis Karavidas et al.

Summary: This study reviewed several agronomic practices to increase the yield and quality of common bean and conducted a bibliometric analysis. The results showed that breeding, sowing density, irrigation, fertilization, rhizobia application, and biostimulant/biofertilizer application are important for improving common bean productivity. However, international collaboration and interdisciplinary interactions are limited, and research on disease and weed management needs to be strengthened.

Genome-Wide Identification, Expression Pattern and Sequence Variation Analysis of SnRK Family Genes in Barley

Jiangyan Xiong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the SnRK family in barley, identifying 46 members classified into 3 sub-families. Through phylogenetic and conserved motif analyses, insights into the gene structures and evolutionary features of HvSnRKs were obtained. The researchers also found that HvSnRKs play a crucial role in responding to abiotic stress in barley.

Mining the Roles of Wheat (Triticum aestivum) SnRK Genes in Biotic and Abiotic Responses

Baihui Jiang et al.

Summary: This study identified 149 TaSnRKs in wheat and revealed their distinct expression patterns under various abiotic and biotic stresses. TaSnRK2.4-B, a member of SnRK2s, showed different expression patterns under PEG, NaCl treatment, and high concentrations of ABA application. Yeast two-hybrid assay confirmed the interaction between TaSnRK2.4-B and SCS in wheat and its role in the ABA-dependent pathway. Additionally, TaSnRK2.4-B might act as a negative regulator in wheat against pathogen infection.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of SnRK Gene Family under Abiotic Stress in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)

Yanyan Luo et al.

Summary: Sucrose non-fermenting 1-related protein kinases (SnRKs) are plant-specific serine/threonine protein kinases that play a crucial role in plant stress resistance. This study identified and analyzed 30 CsSnRK genes in the cucumber genome, revealing their distribution on six chromosomes and differences among three subfamilies. The promoter regions of CsSnRK genes contain various hormone and stress-related cis-acting elements. The expression patterns and responses to stress treatments suggest that CsSnRKs are involved in cucumber growth, development, and stress response.

Global Warming, Climate Change, and Environmental Pollution: Recipe for a Multifactorial Stress Combination Disaster

Sara Zandalinas et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that an increase in different co-occurring multifactorial stress factors can result in a severe decline in plant growth and survival, as well as a decrease in microbiome biodiversity. This should serve as a warning for society to take action to reduce pollutants, combat global warming, and increase crop tolerance to multifactorial stress combinations.
