Evaluating the Effect of Pravastatin in Early-Onset Fetal Growth Restriction: A Nonrandomized and Historically Controlled Pilot Study

Manel Mendoza et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the effect of pravastatin on women with early-onset FGR, showing significant improvement in angiogenic factors. Additionally, treated women had an increased median pregnancy duration and birthweight, along with a reduced incidence of preeclampsia.

MZe786, a hydrogen sulfide-releasing aspirin prevents preeclampsia in heme oxygenase-1 haplodeficient pregnancy under high soluble flt-1 environment

Homira Rezai et al.

Summary: Preeclampsia is a common and serious complication affecting millions of pregnant women worldwide. This study found that a novel H2S-releasing aspirin can ameliorate preeclampsia by reducing hypertension and renal damage through possibly stimulating antioxidant genes, improving fetal outcomes compared to aspirin alone.

Maged M. Costantine et al.

Summary: The study showed that the use of pravastatin in pregnant women at high risk for preeclampsia can lead to favorable safety and pregnancy outcomes, suggesting potential benefits for preventing preeclampsia. However, further large-scale clinical trials are needed to verify its efficacy.

Fetal toxicity associated with statins: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Amir Vahedian-Azimi et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed existing research and conducted a meta-analysis on whether statin treatment during pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects. The results did not show a significant association between statin use and birth defects, suggesting that further investigation is needed to conclusively determine the teratogenic potential of statins during pregnancy.

Pravastatin plus L-arginine prevents adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with uteroplacental vascular dysfunction

Aleksandar Jurisic et al.

Summary: In this study, the combination treatment of pravastatin and L-arginine improved uteroplacental hemodynamics, increased fetal growth, and prevented adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with abnormal Dopplers and high risk for developing unfavorable pregnancy outcomes. More research is needed to confirm these findings.

Pravastatin Versus Placebo in Pregnancies at High Risk of Term Preeclampsia

Moritz Dobert et al.

Summary: In women at high risk of term preeclampsia, pravastatin did not reduce the incidence of preeclampsia leading to delivery. The study showed no significant difference in outcomes between the pravastatin group and the placebo group in terms of primary or secondary outcomes, serum biomarkers, or adverse events. Adherence to the medication was good, but no beneficial effects were observed.

Summary: This study protocol aims to evaluate the efficacy of recombinant human antithrombin gamma in treating early-onset severe de novo preeclampsia. By selecting a specifically defined target population based on reanalysis of previous data, the study is expected to provide valuable efficacy and safety data for Japanese patients.
