A solar photothermocatalytic approach for the CO2 conversion: Investigation of different synergisms on CoO-CuO/brookite TiO2-CeO2 catalysts

Roberto Fiorenza et al.

Summary: The study combined the photoactive features of the least common polymorph of TiO2, brookite, with the thermocatalytic redox properties of cerium oxide, showing that small amounts of Co-Cu oxides can enhance solar CO2 conversion. Surface segregation of hosted metal oxides on the TiO2-CeO2 composite was observed, leading to increased oxygen vacancies and improved charge carriers separation, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction at room temperature.

Green Efficient One-Pot Synthesis and Separation of Nitrones in Water Assisted by a Self-Assembled Nanoreactor

Vincenzo Patamia et al.

Summary: This article presents an alternative method for preparing nitrones using a tetrahedral capsule as a nanoreactor in water. The hydrophobic cavity of the capsule was utilized to reduce reaction times and facilitate the separation of nitrones from the reaction mixture, resulting in comparable yields to existing methods. The method is based on an eco-friendly approach and can be extended to the synthesis of other substrates using various types of macrocyclic hosts commonly used in supramolecular chemistry.

Influence of the carbonization atmosphere on the development of highly microporous adsorbents tailored to CO2 capture

Edward Gomez-Delgado et al.

Summary: Two microporous activated carbons tailored for CO2 capture were developed from Prosopis ruscifolia sawdust. The carbonization atmosphere did not significantly affect the chemical and textural characteristics of the resulting activated carbons or their CO2 adsorption capacity. Therefore, using air instead of N-2 in the carbonization stage may be a cost-effective alternative.
