Quasi-static penetration property of 3D printed woven-like ramie fiber reinforced biocomposites

Ping Cheng et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the penetration behaviors of 3D printed biocomposites with continuous ramie yarn reinforcement. The results showed that the penetration property and energy absorption capability of the samples increased with decreasing support span to indenter diameter ratios (SIR) and with the addition of continuous ramie yarn. The structure-penetration property relationship of the 3D printed woven-like architectured biocomposite was revealed through the analysis of multiscale failure features and penetration damage mechanisms.

Impact Response of the Honeycomb Sandwich Structure with Different Poisson's Ratios

Xiaobo Gong et al.

Summary: The honeycomb sandwich structure is widely used in energy-absorbing facilities due to its lightweight, high specific stiffness and strength, and ease of processing. This study investigates the influence of the Poisson's ratio on local impact resistance and proposes a dual-wall hexagonal honeycomb structure with improved local impact resistance.

A Novel Simplified FE Rail Vehicle Model in Longitudinal and Lateral Collisions

Gongxun Deng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel numerical simplification method for predicting train dynamic responses during complex collisions. The simplified finite element model effectively predicts the impact responses of the rail vehicle, reducing computational time significantly. The results demonstrate the close correlation between the simplified model and the detailed baseline model, making it a valuable tool for exploring train impact responses in complex collisions.

Long-term corrosion monitoring of carbon steels and environmental correlation analysis via the random forest method

Qing Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the atmospheric corrosion of carbon steels was monitored at six different sites using atmospheric corrosion monitoring technology. The results showed that the atmospheric corrosivity varied dynamically in different exposure environments. Factors such as rust layer, wind speed, rainfall rate, relative humidity, and chloride concentration played significant roles in the corrosion process.

Equivalent theories and tension properties of semi-reentrant structures

Dongquan Wu et al.

Summary: Semi Reentrant structures, with zero Poisson's ratio and monoclastic curvature, are combinations of hexagonal Honeycomb and auxetic Reentrant structures. Four theoretical models were developed to predict the elastic modulus and Poison's ratio, and T4 was found to be the most accurate. Geometrical parameters and their influence on the mechanical properties of Semi Reentrant structures were also analyzed in the study.

Hypervelocity impact on honeycomb structure reinforced with bi-layer ceramic/aluminum facesheets used for spacecraft shielding

Sid Ahmed Slimane et al.

Summary: The study focuses on using bi-layer Ceramic/Aluminum facesheets for honeycomb sandwich panels as shield for spacecraft, and proposes a modeling strategy for predicting damage characteristics. The results indicate a significant improvement in resistance capacities with bi-layer facesheets compared to monolayer concepts.
