Optimized Configuration and Operating Plan for Hydrogen Refueling Station with On-Site Electrolytic Production

Jing Sun et al.

Summary: This paper studies hydrogen refueling stations with on-site electrolytic production and hydrogen storage devices and proposes an optimization method to minimize total costs. The developed refueling behavior simulation method and hydrogen-demand estimation model accurately predict the demand for HRS. Empirical results show that the proposed method significantly reduces costs and shortens the break-even time.

Planning of Hydrogen Refueling Stations in Urban Setting While Considering Hydrogen Redistribution

Jingqi Zhang et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the study of environmentally-friendly technologies based on electrified transportation systems and renewable energy resources, with a particular emphasis on the differences between hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric vehicles and battery-powered electric vehicles in terms of driving range and refueling time. A planning model for hydrogen refueling stations is proposed, considering various real-world constraints such as traffic network constraints, distribution network constraints, and energy constraints for electric vehicles, to enhance the practicality of the model. An approach for geographically redistributing hydrogen among stations is also presented to reduce costs, considering the uncertainty of short-term refueling demand across the city. A real-life case study in Western Sydney is used to evaluate the efficiency of the planning model under current and future cost levels, and a numerical simulation is conducted to validate the hydrogen redistribution method.
