A Novel Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Structure Based on Metal Photoanode without FTO/ITO

Jianjun Yang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new type of flexible dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) structure with all-metal electrodes without the use of rare elements. The preparation techniques for the light-receiving layer and porous titanium dioxide (TiO2) film are analyzed. Experimental results show that different electrode material combinations can achieve different performance indicators.

Optimization of thin polystyrene waste embedded multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) film for solid electrolyte of flexible dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC)

Muhamad Anuar Abdul Muin et al.

Summary: The aim of this study is to develop a thin polystyrene waste embedded multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) film as an electrolyte host for flexible DSSC applications. The optimal loading of MWCNTs in the film was found to be 0.003 g, which showed the highest ionic conductivity and the lowest resistance. By analyzing the morphology and uniformity of the thin polymer films, the researchers were able to optimize the electrochemical properties of the electrolyte.

A study on the microstructural development of gel polymer electrolytes and different imidazolium-based ionic liquids for dye-sensitized solar cells

Pedram Manafi et al.

Summary: A quasi-solid state electrolyte based on polymer matrix PVDF-HFP/PEO was studied as a candidate for DSSC production, demonstrating improved performance compared to liquid electrolyte. The composition range of PVDFHFP/PEO membranes and the presence of various ionic liquids were found to affect membrane properties and the photovoltaic performance of DSSC. The reduction in crystallinity was found to be directly related to the improvement of ionic conductivity, leading to enhanced solar conversion efficiency.

Consolidation of ion promoters into quasi solid-state (QSS) polymer electrolytes for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs)

Norshahirah M. Saidi et al.

Summary: Enhanced quasi solid-state polymer electrolytes were developed by consolidating dissolved polyacrylonitrile in a binary organic solvent with different concentrations of iodine. The electrolyte composed of one-tenth of the weight of the NaI salt achieved the highest ionic conductivity and best photovoltaic efficiency among all tested concentrations.
