Chiral Conjugated Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Polymers for Highly Efficient Circularly Polarized Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes

Jin-Ming Teng et al.

Summary: Two novel chiral conjugated polymers R-P and S-P with excellent TADF properties and high photoluminescence quantum yields were designed and synthesized in this study. Intense mirror-image circularly polarized luminescence signals were detected from both polymers in solution and film states, and high maximum external quantum efficiencies and brightness were achieved in solution-processed CP-PLEDs. Additionally, intense circularly polarized electroluminescence signals were observed from the CP-PLED devices fabricated with R-P and S-P.

Aggregation-Induced Emission and Circularly Polarized Luminescence Duality in Tetracationic Binaphthyl-Based Cyclophanes

Amine Garci et al.

Summary: Here, we report a method for synthesizing highly charged enantiopure cyclophanes by incorporating axially chiral enantiomeric binaphthyl fluorophores into pyridinium-based macrocycles. These fluorescent tetracationic cyclophanes show a significant aggregation-induced emission (AIE) compared to their neutral optically active binaphthyl precursors. The AIE is attributed to limited torsional vibrations associated with the axes of chirality present in the chiral enantiomeric binaphthyl units and the fine-tuning of their electronic landscape within the cyclophane structure. Additionally, these highly charged enantiopure cyclophanes exhibit circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) responses both in solution and in the aggregated state. The dual properties of AIE and CPL in these tetracationic cyclophanes have great importance for the future development of photonic devices and bio-applications.

A C3-symmetric triple oxa[6]helicene with circularly polarized luminescence featuring parallel transition dipole moments

Jun Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the first triple oxa[6]helicene with C-3 symmetry was synthesized and characterized. In contrast to the reported D-3-symmetric triple oxa[7]helicene, the C-3-symmetric analogue holds parallel electric and magnetic transition dipole moments, leading to enhanced luminescence dissymmetry. This sheds light on the critical role of molecular symmetry on chiroptical response.
