Ionic Liquid Modification Optimizes the Interface between Lipase and Magnetic GO for Enhancing Biocatalysis

Lili Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, imidazolium-based ionic liquids were used to modify carboxymethyl cellulose-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles, resulting in the preparation of highly active immobilized lipase composites. The introduction of ionic liquids improved the microenvironment of immobilized lipase and allowed for easy recovery of the magnetic supports loaded with lipase. The prepared biocatalyst exhibited higher activity and better reusability compared to other immobilized lipase systems.

Development of polymer-based multifunctional composite particles of protease and peroxidase activities

Szilard Saringer et al.

Summary: A hybrid material with dual enzyme function was prepared by optimizing the doses of enzymes and polyelectrolyte in each step to achieve high functional and colloidal stability. The enzymes and polyelectrolyte were strongly adsorbed on microsphere surfaces via electrostatic forces, preventing enzyme leakage. The polyelectrolyte acted as a separator between enzymes to maintain the colloidal stability and functionality of the hybrid material.

Amphiphilic Nanointerface: Inducing the Interfacial Activation for Lipase

Jihang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of graphene-based materials as immobilized enzymes in the field of biocatalysis. The researchers designed a nanobiological interface between graphene oxide (GO) and lipase TL, which could be tuned through molecular dynamics simulations and chemical modulation. The reduced graphene oxide (rGO) showed improved catalytic activity compared to GO, and 4 hours of reduction with ascorbic acid yielded the highest enzyme activity. The study also explored the drawbacks of hydrophobic nanomaterials on enzyme production and suggested the potential of hydrophilic nanomaterials in enhancing enzyme activity.
