Molecular Dynamics Simulations of the Effects of Entanglement on Polymer Crystal Nucleation

Lingyi Zou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of entanglement on polymer crystallization using atomistic molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that decreasing entanglement density increases the nucleation rate of the polymer, but has mild effects on crystal nucleation. The absence of conventional entanglements in unlinked rings only enhances the nucleation rate by a factor of two. Additionally, the nucleation process of the polymer is localized and does not require large-scale relaxation of polymer chains.

Zwitterionic dynamic elastomer with high ionic conductivity for self-adhesive and transparent electronic skin

Danfeng Pei et al.

Summary: In this study, an unprecedented zwitterionic polyionic elastomer with a dynamic backbone was designed, which exhibited super high ionic conductivity and full recyclability. It possessed excellent stretchability and maintained its ionic conductivity under stretching. Additionally, it had self-adhesion, self-healing, and photo/thermal-driven remoldability and recyclability. The elastomer was sensitive enough to detect cyclic strains and could serve as a pressure-independent touch sensor. This study not only provides a novel elastomer with dynamic backbone and fully recyclable ionic conductivity but also offers a super platform for soft and stretchable electronics in human-machine interfaces applications.
