In Situ All-Weather Humidity Visualization by Using a Hydrophilic Sponge

Cheng Xue et al.

Summary: For the first time, a hydrophilic sponge composed of a rigid gel and super hygroscopic material has demonstrated the capability of all-weather humidity visualization in a portable and convenient manner. This is attributed to the all-weather humidity capture and color display of the super hygroscopic material, as well as the rapid humidity transport and storage ability provided by the porous rigid gel. Combining with a smartphone, this technology provides a smart model for humidity visualization in complex environments, opening up new avenues for the development of humidity sensors.

3D-to-2D Evolution triggered paramagnetic-to-antiferromagnetic transformation

Y. -h. Luo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the reduction in dimensionality from 3D to 2D can lead to significant changes in the physical-chemical properties of materials, such as the appearance of antiferromagnetic behavior and reversible spin-state switching. This decrease in dimensionality provides a new avenue for creating novel functionalities and enhancing the performance of nanomaterials.

Spin-Crossover Properties of an Iron(II) Coordination Nanohoop

Maria Jose Heras Ojea et al.

Summary: The addition of bipyridyl-embedded cycloparaphenylene nanohoop to an iron(II) complex leads to a distorted octahedral structure with spin-crossover behavior. Computational studies suggest that the size and curvature of the nanohoop play a critical role in determining the SCO properties of the iron(II) complex.
