D4-branes wrapped on a spindle

Federico Faedo et al.

Summary: We construct supersymmetric AdS(4)x Sigma solutions of D = 6 gauged supergravity, and uplift them to massive type IIA supergravity solutions using a general prescription. These solutions correspond to a system of D8-branes and D4-branes wrapped on a spindle, embedded in a Calabi-Yau three-fold. The dual field theories are d = 3, N = 2 SCFTs arising from a twisted compactification of the d = 5, N = 1 USp(2N) gauge theory.

Supersymmetric spindles

Pietro Ferrero et al.

Summary: In the context of holography, this paper analyzes supersymmetric geometries based on two-dimensional orbifolds known as spindles. By analyzing spinc spinors on a spindle with an azimuthal rotation symmetry, the paper reveals two possibilities: twist and anti-twist, determined by the quantized magnetic flux through the spindle. The paper constructs solutions of gauged supergravity theories in D = 5 and D = 4 that are dual to D3-branes and M2-branes wrapping spindles, respectively, and discusses M5-branes wrapped on spindles from both a gravity and a field theory perspective.

N = (2,2) AdS3 from D3-branes wrapped on Riemann surfaces

Christopher Couzens et al.

Summary: In this study, we construct N = (2, 2) supersymmetric AdS(3) solutions in type IIB supergravity, which are dual to twisted compactifications of 4d N = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory on Riemann surfaces. These solutions are interpreted as the near-horizon of black strings that asymptote to AdS(5) x S-5. The computed central charge of the gravity solutions supports the proposed duality, as it matches with the field theory result.

Summary: This paper studies the parameter space of magnetically charged AdS(2) x WCP[n-, n+]1 solutions and provides constraints and specific forms of the solutions. By analysis, we also obtain a closed-form expression for the free-energy of the 4-charge magnetic solution and demonstrate that the AdS(2) solution is the near-horizon limit of an asymptotically AdS(4) black hole.

Black holes with spindles at the horizon

Suvendu Giri

Summary: In this paper, we construct AdS(4) x Sigma and AdS(2) x Sigma x Sigma(g) solutions in six-dimensional F(4) gauged supergravity. The first solution realizes a topologically topological twist, while the second class of solutions gives rise to an anti twist. We compute the holographic free energy of the AdS(4) x Sigma solution and find that it matches the entropy computed by extremizing an entropy functional that is constructed by gluing gravitational blocks. For the AdS(2) x Sigma x Sigma(g) solution, we find that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy is reproduced by extremizing an appropriately defined entropy functional, which leads us to conjecture that this solution is dual to a three-dimensional SCFT on a spindle. A class of the AdS(2) x Sigma x Sigma(g) solutions can be embedded in four-dimensional T-3 gauged supergravity, which is a subtruncation of the six-dimensional theory.

M5-branes wrapped on four-dimensional orbifolds

K. C. Matthew Cheung et al.

Summary: In this study, supersymmetric AdS(3) solutions of D = 11 supergravity dual to d = 2, N = (0, 2) SCFTs associated with M5-branes wrapping two different four-dimensional orbifolds were constructed. Central charges of the d = 2 SCFTs calculated from the gravity solutions were shown to agree with field theory computations using anomaly polynomials. The new D = 11 solutions were obtained through a Kaluza-Klein truncation of maximal D = 7 gauged supergravity reduced on a spindle down to D = 5 minimal gauged supergravity.

Holographic duals of M5-branes on an irregularly punctured sphere

Christopher Couzens et al.

Summary: We provide explicit holographic duals of M5-branes wrapped on a sphere with one irregular puncture and one regular puncture of arbitrary type. The solutions generalize the solutions corresponding to M5-branes wrapped on a disc recently constructed by Bah-Bonetti-Minasian-Nardoni by allowing for a general choice of regular puncture. We show that the central charges, flavour central charges and conformal dimensions of BPS operators match with a class of Argyres-Douglas theory.

A note on co-dimension 2 defects in N =4, d=7 gauged supergravity

Michael Gutperle et al.

Summary: In this note, a solution of N = 4, d = 7 gauged supergravity is presented, which is holographically dual to a co-dimension two defect in a six dimensional SCFT. The solution is obtained by double analytic continuation of a two charge supersymmetric black hole solution. A one parameter family of solutions satisfying the condition of no conical deficits in the bulk and on the boundary is computed for which some holographic observables are calculated.

Multicharge accelerating black holes and spinning spindles

Pietro Ferrero et al.

Summary: In this paper, we construct a family of multidyonically charged and rotating supersymmetric AdS(2) x Sigma solutions. We argue that these solutions arise as near horizon limits of extremal dyonically charged rotating and accelerating supersymmetric black holes in AdS(4). We demonstrate this by constructing the accelerating black hole solutions and showing that the nonspinning spindle solutions arise as the near horizon limit of the supersymmetric and extremal subclass of these black holes. Furthermore, we compute the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the black holes and show that it can be obtained by extremizing a simple entropy function. For appropriately quantized magnetic fluxes, the solutions uplift to smooth supersymmetric solutions to D = 11 supergravity.

Thermodynamics of accelerating and supersymmetric AdS4 black holes

Davide Cassani et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the thermodynamics of AdS(4) black hole solutions of Einstein-Maxwell theory, analyzing accelerating, rotating, and charged black holes. By using holography, the Euclidean on-shell action is calculated and a set of conserved charges are defined to establish the first law. By identifying a complex locus of supersymmetric and nonextremal solutions through an analytic continuation of parameters, a simple expression for the on-shell action is obtained, leading to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for a class of supersymmetric and extremal black holes.

Accelerating black holes and spinning spindles

Pietro Ferrero et al.

Summary: The study explores accelerating, rotating, and dyonically charged black hole solutions in AdS 4, showing that D = 4 black hole metrics have conical singularities when the acceleration is nonvanishing. By uplifting to D = 11 supergravity and eliminating conical singularities, new regular supersymmetric AdS solutions are derived. The entropy of these black holes can potentially be derived from certain gauge theories in spinning spindle compactifications.
