Harnessing S-duality in N=4 SYM & supergravity as SL(2, Z)-averaged strings

Scott Collier et al.

Summary: We propose a new approach to extract the physical consequences of S-duality of four-dimensional N = 4 super Yang-Mills (SYM) and its string theory dual using SL(2, Z) spectral theory. Our method can constrain the analytic structure of N = 4 SYM data and has implications for the structure of instantons. In large N limits, we derive the existence and scaling of non-perturbative effects. We also discuss the implications for holography and embedding ensemble averaging into the traditional AdS/CFT paradigm.

The Riemann hypothesis is true up to 3•1012

Dave Platt et al.

Summary: The researchers rigorously verified the Riemann hypothesis up to height 3·1012 using interval arithmetic, showing that all the zeros of the Riemann zeta-function at this height have a specific property and are simple.

Free partition functions and an averaged holographic duality

Nima Afkhami-Jeddi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the torus partition functions of free bosonic CFTs in two dimensions, showing that integrating over Narain moduli defines an ensemble-averaged free CFT and the averaged partition function can be reinterpreted as a sum over topologies in three dimensions. This leads to the conjecture that an averaged free CFT in two dimensions is holographically dual to an exotic theory of three-dimensional gravity with U(1)(c)xU(1)(c) symmetry and a composite boundary graviton. Additionally, general constraints on the spectral gap of free CFTs are obtained for small central charge c, Narain compactifications with a large gap are constructed, and an analytic bootstrap functional corresponding to a single self-dual boson is found using the spinning modular bootstrap.

Harmonic analysis of 2d CFT partition functions

Nathan Benjamin et al.

Summary: The text discusses the application of harmonic analysis theory to study the partition functions of two-dimensional conformal field theories, decomposing them into eigenfunctions of different moduli spaces and exploring their relevance to AdS(3) gravity. It emphasizes that the local operator spectrum is fully determined by a specific subset of degeneracies.
