Dilepton Rapidity Distribution in Drell-Yan Production to Third Order in QCD

Xuan Chen et al.

Summary: We calculate the lepton-pair rapidity distribution in the photon-mediated Drell-Yan process to a high order in QCD for the first time. Our results demonstrate significant QCD corrections at this high order over the entire rapidity region, and independently confirm the recent results for the total Drell-Yan cross section.

Next-to-leading order corrections for gg → ZH with top quark mass dependence

Guoxing Wang et al.

Summary: For the first time, a calculation of the complete next-to-leading order corrections to the gg -> ZH process is presented. The method of small mass expansion is used to tackle the challenging two-loop virtual amplitude, taking into account the top quark mass dependence. Reliable numeric results are obtained in all kinematic regions, and phenomenological predictions are provided for the total and differential cross sections at the Large Hadron Collider and its future upgrades. These results are crucial for reducing the theoretical uncertainties and providing theoretical inputs for future precision experimental collider programs.

VH plus jet production in hadron-hadron collisions up to order αs3 in perturbative QCD

R. Gauld et al.

Summary: The paper presents precise predictions for the production of an on-shell Higgs boson in association with a leptonically decaying gauge boson and a jet, up to alpha(3)(s). The study includes NNLO QCD corrections to both charged- and neutral-current Drell-Yan type contributions, and also considers heavy quark loop induced contributions. Results show that including NNLO corrections is essential for stabilizing predictions and reducing theoretical uncertainty, particularly in kinematical regimes with low to medium transverse momentum values.

Lepton-pair production at hadron colliders at N3LO in QCD

Claude Duhr et al.

Summary: For the first time, we have computed the complete corrections to the strong coupling constant in the inclusive neutral-current Drell-Yan process, taking into account contributions from both photon and Z-boson exchange. Our analysis includes QCD corrections to the inclusive production cross section of an axial-vector boson to third order in strong coupling, considering the effects of non-decoupling of the top-quark mass. We have also presented predictions for the inclusive Drell-Yan process at the LHC, based on this order of QCD perturbation theory.

The PDF4LHC21 combination of global PDF fits for the LHC Run III*

Richard D. Ball et al.

Summary: This article presents an updated global PDF fit, PDF4LHC21, which combines the CT18, MSHT20, and NNPDF3.1 sets using Monte Carlo methods. The new combination shows modest uncertainties reduction for key LHC processes compared to its predecessor, PDF4LHC15. Extensive benchmark studies are performed to understand the differences between the three global PDF sets. The phenomenological implications of PDF4LHC21 for a selection of cross sections at the LHC are also studied.

Z H production in gluon fusion at NLO in QCD

Long Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, we present fully differential next-to-leading order results for Higgs production in association with a Z boson in gluon fusion. We compute the two-loop virtual contributions numerically using sector decomposition, accounting for full top-quark mass effects. At high pi, we also employ an analytic high-energy expansion to order (m(Z)(4), m(H)(4), m(t)(32)). Furthermore, we study the top-quark mass scheme uncertainty at large PT using the expanded results.

Summary: We present NNPDF4.0, a new set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) based on a global dataset and machine learning techniques. The methodology includes the expansion of the dataset, optimization of hyperparameters, and the implementation of theoretical improvements. The results have been validated through closure tests and analyzed for their dependence on input choices. The implications of NNPDF4.0 on LHC processes have also been studied.

Exact Top-Quark Mass Dependence in Hadronic Higgs Production

M. Czakon et al.

Summary: In this Letter, the impact of the finite top-quark mass on the inclusive Higgs production cross section at higher perturbative orders was calculated at next-to-next-to-leading order QCD. The overall effect was found to be -0.26% at a pp collider energy of 13 TeV, and -0.1% at 8 TeV, eliminating one of the main theoretical uncertainties to inclusive Higgs production cross section at the LHC.

ZH production in gluon fusion: two-loop amplitudes with full top quark mass dependence

Long Chen et al.

Summary: The study presents results on two-loop helicity amplitudes contributing to NLO QCD corrections in Higgs boson production with a Z-boson in gluon fusion. These two-loop integrals, involving massive top quarks, were calculated numerically. Results show the interference of the finite part of the two-loop amplitudes with the Born amplitude as a function of two kinematic invariants.

The complete singlet contribution to the massless quark form factor at three loops in QCD

Long Chen et al.

Summary: This work discusses the non-decoupling effect of top quark loop corrections on quark form factors, particularly the singlet contribution. Numerical calculations and discussions on renormalization formulae and renormalization group equations revealed the significance of these effects in the low energy region. Additionally, the 3-loop Wilson coefficient in the low energy effective Lagrangian was extracted and examined for its approximation accuracy in the low energy region.

Parton distributions from LHC, HERA, Tevatron and fixed target data: MSHT20 PDFs

Summary: The new MSHT20 set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton, determined from global analyses of hard scattering data, includes updates such as improved parameterizations, new precise data, and NNLO QCD corrections. The NNLO fit is strongly favored over the NLO due to wider range and increased precision of data included in the fit, resulting in reduced uncertainties in predictions for processes such as Higgs, top quark pair, and W, Z production at post LHC Run-II energies.

Virtual corrections to gg → ZH via a transverse momentum expansion

Lina Alasfar et al.

Summary: We have computed the next-to-leading virtual QCD corrections to the partonic cross section for the production of a Higgs boson in association with a Z boson in gluon fusion using a method based on expansion in terms of small transverse momentum. The method has been generalized to consider different masses in the final state and asymmetry in the forward-backward direction exchange. Our analytical approach provides a very good approximation of the partonic cross section up to around 750 GeV in the center of mass energy region, where the majority of the total hadronic cross section at the LHC is concentrated.

Summary: This study presents the first fully differential predictions for the production cross section of a Higgs boson via the gluon fusion mechanism at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order ((NLO)-L-3) in QCD perturbation theory. The (NLO)-L-3 corrections exhibit complex features and significantly reduce perturbative uncertainties for the production cross section.

New CTEQ global analysis of quantum chromodynamics with high-precision data from the LHC

Tie-Jiun Hou et al.

Summary: The new parton distribution functions (PDFs) from the CTEQ-TEA collaboration are determined using a wide variety of high-precision Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data, in addition to other datasets. These PDFs are analyzed at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order, with error sets determined using the Hessian method. The data sensitivity and preference towards quantities such as α(s)(m(Z)), and the gluon and strange quark distributions are quantified using fast PDF survey techniques.
