Screening of stable resistant accessions and identification of resistance loci to Barley yellow mosaic virus disease

Yuhan Pan et al.

Summary: This study identifies several barley accessions with stable resistance to Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) and discovers novel resistance loci. Additionally, the analysis of BaYMV strains reveals differences in resistance loci between geographically distinct regions. These findings provide important genetic resources for breeding barley varieties with resistance to BaYMV disease.

Plant growth rate after, and not during, waterlogging better correlates to yield responses in wheat and barley

Nicolas Ciancio et al.

Summary: Waterlogging significantly reduces the yield of wheat and barley, with wheat experiencing greater losses. Yield is mainly influenced by numerical components, which are more correlated with the plant's growth rate during the recovery period after stress rather than during the waterlogging period.

Molecular dissection of maize seedling salt tolerance using a genome-wide association analysis method

Meijie Luo et al.

Summary: A genome-wide association study on 348 maize inbred lines under salt stress conditions identified 149 significant SNPs and 104 QTLs associated with salt tolerance traits, with 13 candidate genes predicted. CRISPR/Cas9 technology targeting three sites showed 70% editing efficiency in maize, confirming the salt tolerance function of candidate genes ZmCLCg and ZmPMP3. Chloride content analysis revealed ZmCLCg's role in regulating chloride transport under sodium chloride stress. These findings offer insights into genetic variations in salt tolerance and provide potential loci for generating salt-tolerant maize lines.
