Water Use Characteristics of Two Dominant Species in the Mega-Dunes of the Badain Jaran Desert

Jie Qin et al.

Summary: The water use characteristics of two dominant plant species in the Badain Jaran Desert mega-dunes, Zygophyllum xanthoxylum and Artemisia ordosica, were compared. It was found that their differences in water use mainly relate to their root distribution characteristics. This study provides a theoretical basis for the selection of species for artificial vegetation restoration in arid areas.

Dew water-uptake pathways in Negev desert plants: a study using stable isotope tracers

Amber J. Hill et al.

Summary: This study investigated how desert plants utilize dew water using an isotopic water tracer approach. The results showed that different plant species have varying degrees of dew water uptake, with evidence of foliar uptake capacity varying depending on microenvironmental conditions.

Evaluation of the physiological significance of leaf wetting by dew as a supplemental water resource in semi-arid crop production

Gaku Yokoyama et al.

Summary: The study found that leaf wetting by dew has significant implications for semi-arid crop production by positively affecting plant physiological functions, particularly under water-stressed conditions. This highlights the importance of dew as a water resource in such environments.
