The apple 14-3-3 protein MdGRF11 interacts with the BTB protein MdBT2 to regulate nitrate deficiency-induced anthocyanin accumulation

Yi-Ran Ren et al.

Summary: This study revealed that MdBT2 undergoes posttranslational modifications in response to nitrate deficiency, and interacts with MdGRF11, a 14-3-3 protein, which negatively regulates the stability of MdBT2 protein via a 26S proteasome-dependent pathway. This leads to increased abundance of MdMYB1 proteins and activation of anthocyanin biosynthesis-related genes. The results demonstrate the critical role of 14-3-3 proteins in the regulation of nitrate deficiency-induced anthocyanin accumulation.

Long Noncoding RNAs in Plants

Andrzej T. Wierzbicki et al.

Summary: Plants have a diverse range of transcription machineries, with four dedicated RNA polymerases involved in producing long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that play various regulatory roles in gene expression and response to environmental stimuli. These lncRNAs can impact gene expression by controlling chromatin accessibility, transcription, splicing, and translation.

Summary: This study compared the ontogenetical patterns of 'O'Neal' and 'Bluerain' blueberry cultivars and found that cell division before anthesis and cell expansion after fertilization were major restricting factors in fruit size. The outer mesocarp was identified as a key tissue affecting fruit size variation among blueberry genotypes.

Comprehensive Analysis of the SBP Family in Blueberry and Their Regulatory Mechanism Controlling Chlorophyll Accumulation

Xin Xie et al.

Summary: The diversity and expression patterns of the SBP family genes in blueberry were analyzed in this study. Ten VcSBPs were found to be highly expressed during the green fruit stages and decreased significantly at the onset of fruit ripening. Further computational and experimental analysis revealed that VcSBP13a plays a role in increasing chlorophyll accumulation in Arabidopsis.

The long noncoding RNA MdLNC499 bridges MdWRKY1 and MdERF109 function to regulate early-stage light-induced anthocyanin accumulation in apple fruit

Huaying Ma et al.

Summary: In apple fruit, ERF109 protein is involved in light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis by directly binding to anthocyanin-related gene promoters to promote coloration. Additionally, a long noncoding RNA MdLNC499 was found to induce expression of MdERF109, regulated by a transcription factor MdWRKY1.
