Transcriptomic and physiological analysis reveals interplay between salicylic acid and drought stress in citrus tree floral initiation

Faiza Shafique Khan et al.

Summary: Salicylic acid (SA) and drought stress promote flowering in sweet orange. The study identified physiological responses and molecular mechanisms underlying stress-induced floral initiation by analyzing the transcriptome. Key flowering genes were identified, and ectopic expression of CsLIP2A was found to promote early flowering in Arabidopsis. This research provides new insights into floral initiation in citrus and serves as a valuable reference for stress-induced floral initiation in woody trees.

Transcriptome analysis reveals abscisic acid enhancing drought resistance by regulating genes related to flavonoid metabolism in pigeon pea

Wanlong Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that ABA can enhance drought resistance in pigeon pea by regulating the accumulation of flavonoids through secondary metabolism. ABA treatment led to significant changes in flavonoid biosynthesis pathways, with key enzyme genes being up-regulated. Transcriptome analysis revealed potential involvement of multiple transcription factors in the regulation of flavonoid accumulation, and RT-PCR confirmed their regulation by ABA. High Performance Liquid Chromatography analysis showed increased content of genistein, genistin and pterostilbene in pigeon pea treated with ABA under drought stress.

Transcriptome survey and expression analysis reveals the adaptive mechanism of 'Yulu Xiang' Pear in response to long-term drought stress

Sheng Yang et al.

Summary: Pear is an important economic fruit globally. Long-term drought stress weakens antioxidant systematization and impairs photosynthetic pigment synthesis in 'Yulu Xiang' Pear leaves, leading to inhibited fruit development. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) analysis showed up-regulated enzyme genes involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis and malate dehydrogenase expression under drought stress, promoting osmotic regulation and enhancing drought resistance of leaves. Additionally, hormone-related enzyme genes exhibited higher expression in drought stress groups, suggesting a promoted cell proliferation under drought stress.
