Epidermal Fatty Acid-Binding Protein Mediates Depilatory-Induced Acute Skin Inflammation

Di Yin et al.

Summary: Depilatory creams can cause skin inflammation in people with sensitive skin, but the reasons for their increased sensitivity are unknown. This study shows that epidermal fatty acid-binding protein (E-FABP) plays a critical role in promoting depilatory-induced acute skin inflammation in mouse models. The activation of multiple signaling pathways in keratinocytes by depilatory creams leads to the inflammatory response.

Intestinal fatty acid binding protein is a disease biomarker in paediatric coeliac disease and Crohn's disease

Michael Logan et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the use of intestinal fatty acid binding protein (iFABP) as a biomarker of small bowel damage in coeliac disease and Crohn's disease. The results showed that plasma iFABP is a more reliable biomarker for monitoring compliance during a gluten-free diet than tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies (TGA). The role of plasma iFABP in Crohn's disease shows promise but requires further investigation.

An altered fecal microbial profiling in rosacea patients compared to matched controls

Yi-Ju Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that rosacea patients had altered fecal microbial richness and composition compared to non-rosacea subjects. The distinct microbial composition in rosacea patients might be related to sulfur metabolism, cobalamin, and carbohydrate transport.

Summary: Research shows that patients with inflammatory bowel disease treated with anti-TNF medications have a high incidence of dermatological reactions, with psoriasis being the most common. There may be a correlation between an increased male population and an increased event rate.

Fecal Microbiome Changes and Specific Anti-Bacterial Response in Patients with IBD during Anti-TNF Therapy

Dagmar Schierova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the longitudinal effect of anti-TNF therapy on gut microbiota composition and immune response in IBD patients. The results showed differences in microbiota diversity between healthy controls, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis patients, with patients' microbiota becoming more similar to healthy controls after treatment. Additionally, increased IgM levels against specific gut commensals were observed after anti-TNF therapy.

Adipocyte Fatty Acid-Binding Protein, Cardiovascular Diseases and Mortality

Chi-Ho Lee et al.

Summary: Inflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease, with adipose tissue inflammation contributing to atherosclerosis. Adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (AFABP) acts as a key mediator in the adipose-vascular cross-talk by interacting with JNK and AP-1, perpetuating inflammatory responses. Elevated circulating AFABP levels are associated with metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, CVD, and other conditions related to inflammation and increased cardiovascular mortality.

Systematic Review: The Gut Microbiome and Its Potential Clinical Application in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Laila Aldars-Garcia et al.

Summary: IBD is a chronic relapsing-remitting systemic disease of the gastrointestinal tract, and the gut microbiome plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis by showing reduced species richness, diversity, and temporal stability. Changes in the gut microbiome are pivotal in determining the onset of IBD, with certain microbial taxa identified as diagnostic biomarkers.
