Creating Cu(I)-decorated defective UiO-66(Zr) framework with high CO adsorption capacity and selectivity

The Ky Vo et al.

Summary: In this study, a defective UiO-66(Zr) framework with improved surface area and pore structures was successfully synthesized using microwave-assisted continuous-flow synthesis. Cu(I) was loaded onto the defective UiO-66 samples to obtain Cu(I)@UiO-66 adsorbents, which exhibited high CO adsorption capacity due to the pi complexation between Cu+ and CO. The study provides a simple and scalable method for producing pi-complexation adsorbent for CO adsorption.

Titration of Cu(I) Sites in Cu-ZSM-5 by Volumetric CO Adsorption

Gabriele Deplano et al.

Summary: Cu-exchanged zeolites are important materials in industrial processes, and this study presents a novel technique for quantitatively studying Cu redox speciation in these materials. By using isothermal volumetric adsorption measurements and infrared spectroscopy, a good correlation between results is found, allowing for spectrophotometric quantification. This complementary set of tools provides good sensitivity and precision in quantitatively studying Cu redox speciation at the laboratory scale.

Adsorption equilibria and kinetics of CO2, CH4, CO, N2, and H2 on KOH-treated activated carbon pellets up to 1000 kPa

Suk-Hoon Hong et al.

Summary: Activated carbon (AC) pellets modified by KOH activation (KACa) or impregnation (KACi) were investigated for their adsorptive behaviors. The results showed that KOH activation improved the textural properties, while impregnation deteriorated them. The choice of activation method can be made based on specific application requirements.

Cuprous species distribution over CuCl/NaY dependent on acidity and their CO Adsorption/desorption performance study

Dequan Fan et al.

Summary: In this study, the impact of acidity on copper species distribution and CO storage performance during solid exchange process was evaluated. The results showed that NaY-Cu samples had superior CO storage ability compared to NaY supports, and the CO adsorption behaviors over hydroxyls, Na+ cations, and Cu+/Cu2+ cations were further examined to reveal the adsorption sites. The relation between faujasite acidity and CuCl distribution was systematically concluded to illustrate their industrial application potential.

Reversible Light-Controlled CO Adsorption via Tuning π-Complexation of Cu+ Sites in Azobenzene-Decorated Metal-Organic Frameworks

Yu-Xia Li et al.

Summary: This study reports a smart pi-complexation adsorbent that can adjust the pi-complexation of active sites via light irradiation, thereby regulating the performance of the adsorbent. The results show that the CO uptake of the adsorbent can be significantly changed by altering the light irradiation, providing a clue for designing target-specific smart materials.

Local structure of Pt species dictates remarkable performance on Pt/Al2O3 for preferential oxidation of CO in H2

Yang Chen et al.

Summary: This study found that Pt nanoparticles supported on an inert substrate can catalyze total CO conversion and CO2 selectivity over a broad temperature range, depending on the local structure of Pt active centers. The ensemble of Pt(OH) and metallic Pt plays a critical role in this process.

Study on preparation of CuCl/REY adsorbent with high CO adsorption and selectivity

Hao Yang et al.

Summary: Rare earth-modified Y zeolite was used to prepare CuCl/REY adsorbents, which showed improved CO adsorption capacity and selectivity compared to adsorbents prepared with NaY zeolite. The rare earth elements slightly increased the pore size, inhibited CuO generation, and enhanced the CO/N2 selectivity.
