Direct synthesis of tetraalkoxysilanes in a high-pressure mechanochemical reactor

Ilya N. Krizhanovskiy et al.

Summary: Studies on the direct synthesis of tetraalkoxysilanes from alcohols and metallic silicon in a high-pressure mechanochemical reactor showed that high silicon conversion and selectivity can be achieved under optimal conditions. CuCl exhibited the highest activity among copper-based catalysts, and different alcohols led to varied results in the synthesis process.

Mechanochemistry for ammonia synthesis under mild conditions

Gao-Feng Han et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates the feasibility of synthesizing ammonia under low temperature and pressure conditions using a mechanochemical method, resulting in a higher concentration of ammonia compared to traditional high temperature and pressure synthesis methods.Mechanochemically induced high defect density and violent impact on the iron catalyst were responsible for the mild synthesis conditions.

Approach to generating the right active phase in the Direct synthesis of trimethoxysilanes using the CuCl-Cu2O catalyst

Kai Su et al.

Summary: In this study, three pretreatment methods were employed to activate the contact mass of Si powder and the composite catalyst of CuCl and Cu2O. It was found that the activation with methyl chloride (CH3Cl) resulted in the highest Si conversion and M3 yield, which increased by 8-fold compared to the un-activated sample. This was attributed to the promotion of CuxSi formation and the generation of more Cu15Si4 active phase.
