Photodeposition of NiS Cocatalysts on g-C3N4 with Edge Grafting of 4-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl) Benzoic Acid for Highly Elevated Photocatalytic H2 Evolution

Zizhan Liang et al.

Summary: G-C3N4 (g-CN) with edge grafting of 4-(1H-imidazol-2-yl) benzoic acid (IBA) and NiS cocatalysts showed greatly enhanced visible-light photocatalytic performance for H-2 evolution. The enhanced activity can be attributed to the synergism of edge grafting of IBA and loading of NiS cocatalysts, which improved the absorption in the visible range and effectively separated the photogenerated carriers.

Oxygen-vacancy-enhanced piezo-photocatalytic performance of AgNbO3

Li Li et al.

Summary: Piezo-photocatalysis is a new-emerging strategy that can enhance catalytic performance by modulating interface structures such as introducing oxygen vacancies. In this study, the introduction of oxygen vacancies significantly improved the piezo-photocatalytic activity of AgNbO3 powder, narrowing the band gap and enhancing UV-vis light absorption. The findings suggest that oxygen vacancies play a crucial role in promoting the separation of electron hole pairs to enhance piezo-photocatalytic performance.

Insight into oxygen-vacancy regulation on piezocatalytic activity of (Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3 crystallites: Experiments and first-principles calculations

Dai-Ming Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of oxygen vacancy (OV) in piezocatalysis and finds that OV can both enhance and weaken the piezocatalytic performance, depending on the concentration. The increase in OV concentration improves the adsorption of O-2 and OH- and enhances charge concentration, resulting in the generation of active radicals and boosting piezocatalytic activity. However, the increase in OV weakens the piezoelectric property, leading to decreased active oxygen species and suppressed piezocatalytic activity.

Summary: Direct seawater electrolysis for hydrogen production is economically appealing yet technically challenging. The iron and phosphor dual-doped nickel selenide nanoporous films were designed as bifunctional catalysts to improve efficiency, selectivity, and stability by enhancing the oxygen evolution reaction selectivity, preventing selenide dissolution, and stimulating active centers for the reaction. The experimental and theoretical analyses provide insights into the roles of dual-dopants in boosting seawater electrolysis, resulting in achieving high current density with OER selectivity and long-term stability.

Summary: The unique magnesium salt of titanium phosphite (MgTiP) was synthesized and applied for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution using seawater. The addition of a sacrificial agent, FeCl2, in the system enhanced hydrogen evolution and prevented MgTiP from photo-corrosion. The ions in seawater acted as sacrificial agents and enhanced the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution while preventing MgTiP from being corroded by light.
