Influence of carbon black and carbon nanotube on mechanical and piezoelectric properties of ?-C2S-PZT composite

Huanghuang Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of carbon black (CB) and carbon nanotube (CNT) on the mechanical performance and piezoelectricity of g-C2S-based piezoelectric composite. The results showed that the addition of CB and CNT significantly improved the piezoelectric properties and compressive strength of the composite.

Effect of the number of projections in X-ray CT imaging on image quality and digital volume correlation measurement

Xuanhao Zhang et al.

Summary: Digital volume correlation (DVC) is a method to quantify internal 3D displacement and strain fields by correlating volume images acquired from a tested object at different states. This study experimentally investigated the effect of the number of projections on DVC measurements with X-ray CT. The results showed that increasing the number of projections can improve the accuracy and quality of DVC measurements, but it also increases the imaging time.

Development of a Sustainable CO2 Solidified Aerated Concrete

Ming Lei et al.

Summary: This study presents a CO2 solidified aerated concrete (CSAC) using gamma-C2S as the primary binder. The addition of cellulose fibers enhances the compressive strength and carbonation efficiency of CSAC. The research provides a promising method for large-scale CO2 utilization in the concrete industry.

Effect of temperature on CO2 curing, compressive strength and microstructure of cement paste

Bao Lu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of temperature on the carbonation process, compressive strength, and microstructure of CO2-cured cement paste. The results showed that temperature significantly influenced the carbonation rate and the improvement of cement paste's properties. Temperature also had a significant impact on the structural transformation, morphological changes, and size and amounts of calcium carbonate polymorphs.

Mechanical, piezoelectric, and dielectric properties of a novel 0-3?-C2S-PZT composite

Xiong Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of PZT volume, forming pressure, and polarization regime on the properties of the 0-3 gamma-C2S-PZT composite. Experimental results showed that increasing the PZT volume significantly improved the mechanical, piezoelectric, and dielectric properties of the composite. Increasing the forming pressure and polarization voltage also enhanced the performance of the composite. Compared to cement-based piezoelectric composites, the gamma-C2S-PZT composite exhibited superior properties.

Assessing the contribution of micropores and mesopores from nitrogen adsorption on nanoporous carbons: Application to pore size analysis

Jerzy Choma et al.

Summary: Adsorption isotherms in micropores and mesopores are evaluated using nitrogen adsorption isotherm on micro-mesoporous carbons to determine pore size distributions. Selection of appropriate templates and activation methods can lead to carbons with ordered mesopores and increased microporosity.

Effect of Extended Carbonation Curing on the Properties of γ-C2S Compacts and Its Implications on the Multi-Step Reaction Mechanism

Sixue Zhao et al.

Summary: The study investigates the mechanism of gamma-C2S compacts under extended carbonation curing, proposing a multi-step reaction mechanism. It is found that high calcium ion concentration benefits the formation of calcite, and a stepwise pressurization curing regime is suggested to significantly increase strength.

Effect of curing temperature on carbonation behavior of steel slag compacts

Zhongtao Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different curing temperatures on the carbonation performance of steel slag prefabricates. It is found that elevating the curing temperature benefits the development of compressive strength and CO2 absorption ratio in the early stage, but with the prolonging of time, the effectiveness of low and high curing temperatures is much lower than that of intermediate temperatures.
