Enzymatic glycosylation of menthol: optimization of synthesis and extraction processes using response surface methodology and biological evaluation of synthesized product

Shafaq Nisar et al.

Summary: Menthol, a substance with refreshing feeling and mint flavour, is widely used in various industries. However, its low solubility in water restricts its applications. This research focused on synthesizing menthyl glucoside (MenG) enzymatically, which has good water solubility and stability. The optimized synthesis and extraction conditions achieved a maximum yield of 49.7 ± 0.2%. MenG also showed comparable biological activities to menthol.

Spatial Distribution, Environmental Risk and Safe Utilization Zoning of Soil Heavy Metals in Farmland, Subtropical China

Weiwei Guo et al.

Summary: The study found that the concentrations of soil HMs in Jinhua City were mainly highest in Zn, Cr, and Pb. None of the determined soil HMs exceeded China's risk screening values for agricultural land contamination. The spatial distribution of soil HMs showed different levels of autocorrelation and environmental risk probability in different areas, with the majority of farmland in Jinhua City falling within safe utilization zones.
