GALDIT Modification for Seasonal Seawater Intrusion Mapping Using Multi Criteria Decision Making Methods

Jeong-Seok Yang et al.

Summary: This study used the modified GALDIT method to assess the seasonal vulnerability of coastal aquifers in Benin, West Africa. The results showed that the coastal aquifer in this region is most vulnerable to seawater intrusion in February, when the groundwater level is low, and least vulnerable in July. Sensitivity analysis revealed that groundwater level above the mean sea level, distance from shore, and thickness of the saturated aquifer have the greatest influence on vulnerability assessment.

Comparative study of groundwater vulnerability to contamination assessment methods applied to the southern coastal sedimentary basin of Benin

Amos Agossou et al.

Summary: This study focuses on groundwater vulnerability and contamination in the southern coastal sedimentary basin of Benin. By applying various assessment methods, it was found that incorporating land cover/land use parameters and entropy weight modification into the classic DRASTIC method is effective in identifying vulnerable areas in the basin.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of climate change, over-pumping, and sea-level rise on seawater intrusion in the coastal aquifer of Rmel-Oulad Ogbane in northern Morocco. The modeling results show that seawater intrusion has led to contamination of groundwater quality, emphasizing the need for enhanced groundwater development and management approaches to protect fresh water resources.
