Jingang Cultural Center: Complex-Shaped Fair-Faced Concrete Structure

Fair-faced concrete is a form of expression in architectural modernism. It does not add any decoration on the surface of the structure after pouring and forming, and takes the natural colour and texture of the concrete itself as the final design in order to integrate the building structure and achieve green energy-saving. A fair-faced concrete expression can reflect a clean, natural, solemn and simple personality of the building. However, because of its one-time forming and irreparable characteristics, fair-faced concrete is generally applied to conventional linear components, and technical bottlenecks for complex structures exist. As one of the largest fair-faced concrete structures in China, the Jingang Cultural Center includes a large number of complex-shaped fair-faced concrete structures. This report focuses on the structural characteristics of Jingang Cultural Center. Aiming at the representative components, such as a deepening design, mushroom body structure, ridge eave structure and arch-shell structure, a series of measures are studied, and a series of methods are proposed to improve the forming quality of fair-faced concrete with complex-shaped structures and enhance the feasibility and economy of fair-faced concrete in complex-shaped structures.
